3 Confirmed Measles Outbreaks in Connecticut and Putnam County

An outbreak of Measles has hit the Connecticut and Putnam County area, and the Department of Health has even isolated the cases, issuing a few location warnings.

Recently, it was reported that a family from France that was carrying the measles virus was in Patterson at the Watchtower headquarters. Now, Experts from the Department of Health are figuring some 90 people may have been exposed to the serious and highly contagious virus.

According to Hudson Valley Post, the Health Department confirmed that there have three cases in which measles has been positively confirmed — two people in Putnam County, and one person in Connecticut. They've also issued a warning for people who may have been at the Subway Restaurant on Route 22 in Paterson on Sunday, April 29, or in DeCicco & Sons in Brewster on Route 312 on Monday April 30. If you were in those locations on those days, you may have been exposed to the virus.

Anyone who thinks they may have been exposed at these locations should call the Putnam County Department of Health as soon as possible to see if they are at risk, and to find out what actions to take. Nurses are standing by for calls at 845-808-1390.

According to the CDC, symptoms usually start with a fever, runny nose, cough, red eyes, and sore throat, followed by a rash that spreads all over your body. So far, these cases have been isolated to Putnam County and Connecticut.
