A Full Flower Moon Will Shine Over Connecticut Skies Tonight
I love when exciting things happen in the sky. This past weekend I noticed how bright the moon and the stars were and wondered when the next exciting thing to happen in the sky was.

Stars, moons, eclipses, northern lights - I'll take all of it. I can sit outside and look at the stars for hours on end each night. It puts into perspective just how little we are and how big our solar system is. Tonight, we are going to be able to witness a very bright moon in the sky. Tonight we will be able to see the Full Flower Moon shine over Connecticut.
What is a Flower Moon?
A flower moon is the name of May's full moon. It gets its name from the abundance of wildflowers that spring to life this time of year. It also promises an insane view for skywatchers.
Lucky for us, we are going to be able to witness this beautiful moon today. It looks like it will be fully lit around 8:30 ET. According to space.com, "In the moments just after moonrise, you may notice the moon take on a slightly orange or yellow hue. This optical effect occurs because light reflected off the lunar surface has to travel further through Earth's atmosphere before it reaches the viewer compared to when it is higher in the sky."
It looks like it's going to be very bright tonight, but if you miss it, you will still be able to see it for another night or two.
Make sure to send us pictures if you catch a glimpse of the moon! I can't wait to see them.
