Massive Beef Recall at Taco Bell, Greater Danbury Locations Included
If you're thinking "Yo quiero Taco Bell," you may want to wait a little bit, as the restaurant chain has just recalled 2.3 million pounds of beef.
The recall comes after a complaint, in which a customer reportedly found metal shavings in their food from the restaurant.
Julie Masino, Taco Bell North America President, had this to say in an official statement released by the company:
As soon as we received the first consumer complaint, we immediately acted to remove the product from the affected restaurants and proactively worked with the supplier to inform the USDA of our steps to protect our guests.
According to fox61.com, since the first complaint, two other customers have come forward, but the company said by the time they received those complaints, they had already begun removing 1,150 tons of seasoned beef from their stores.
The USDA is concerned that some Taco Bell customers might have done the take out thing, and brought contaminated beef home and have not eaten it yet, or put leftovers in their refrigerator.
If you have recently purchased food from any Taco Bell in our area, and have any questions, the company is requesting that you call this number to get more information on the recall, 1-800-TACOBELL (1-800-822-6235) Monday through Friday 11 AM – 7 PM Eastern Time.
Taco Bell is also reporting that the contaminated seasoned beef was processed at only one plant.
