The retail landscape of the Danbury Fair Mall is changing once again, and this time, it's one if it's anchors that's closing down. It was announced on Sunday that one of the nation's oldest department stores, Lord & Taylor, had filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. According to USA Today.com, three Connecticut locations are going to be permanently closed, and they are now undergoing prep for liquidation sales.

It's becoming more apparent as the pandemic rages on, that shopping mall locations of retail stores are doomed. Lord & Taylor will be closing 19 of it's 38 stores, all three of the Connecticut store closures are located in shopping malls. The Danbury Fair Mall store on Backus Ave in Danbury, the Westfarms Mall store on New Britain Ave in West Hartford, and the Trumbull store at the Westfield Trumbull Mall on Main St in Trumbull are all being closed permanently. Only one Lord & Taylor location will remain in Connecticut, the Stamford location on High Ridge Road

It seems as though most of the remaining Lord & Taylor stores are located around the New York Metro area. Lord & Taylor was sold last year to French company Le Tote, and they're currently looking for another buyer. According to a press release, the three stores in Connecticut slated for closure have an big assortment of brand-name merchandise that will be sold at significant price reductions. Some of the brand names mentioned are Nike, Ralph Lauren, Tommy Bahama and DKNY.
