It's been a year since the start of the pandemic and many local companies and businesses had to either let people go or lay them off.

According to statistics from ctpost.com, the U.S. Department of Labor reported almost 6,900 Connecticut workers filed first time claims for unemployment compensation during the second week of February, up some 780 claims from the previous week.
