When I take my wife out to dinner for a special occasion, and we're craving the best piece of filet mignon that money can buy, three excellent Connecticut restaurants immediately come to mind; Barbarie's Black Angus Grill in Danbury, The White Horse Country Pub & Restaurant in New Preston, and The Good News Cafe in Woodbury.

As I was scanning the internet, I came upon an article about a new upscale eatery in Cheshire, Connecticut called the Bone In Prime Steakhouse. As I checked out their menu, I came upon a porterhouse steak that glittered with gold, and it wasn't cheap!

That menu item was a 40-ounce porterhouse or tomahawk steak for two wrapped in edible 24-Karat gold leaf with a hefty price tag of $195. The 10-ounce filet mignon for one goes for $135. Every once in a while, I enjoy the finer things in life, but a gold-wrapped steak?

I do not like my steak with gold.

I like my steak with A-1 Bold.

I do not like a gold wrapped steak.

I would rather eat a green-eyed snake.

I'm sure the Bone In Prime Steakhouse in Chesire is a mighty fine eatery, but I'm not driving an hour to spend $195 for dinner just to drive home while I pick out gold leaf paper caught between my teeth.

For all of the steak lovers out there, what do you think about 24-Karat Gold steak? Talk about a fancy date night.
