Lamont: CT Lessens COVID Restrictions on Indoor + Outdoor Event Capacity
Depending on coronavirus metrics continued stability, Connecticut will lessen COVID restrictions on indoor and outdoor event capacity starting March 19.
This means that the indoor capacity, which was 25 people, will increase to 50% with a cap of 100 people. For outdoor events, which were capped at 50 people, will now be increased up to 200 people.
During his Tuesday afternoon press conference, wtnh.com reported that Governor Lamont announced that infection rate numbers are slowly moving downward and vaccinations were up.
As of Feb.16, 691,846 vaccinations have been given and Connecticut ranks fourth in the nation. The lessening in restrictions applies to private, social and recreational events at commercial venues, according to fox61.com.
Scott Dolch, the Executive Director of the Connecticut Restaurant Association, wasted no time in releasing a statement thanking Governor Lamont by saying,
We're very appreciative that Governor Lamont has heard the pleas of our industry. We're thankful the governor understood that dynamic and that his administration took action.
During the Governor's press conference, he also spoke about getting back to live sports events and having more news on that subject in a couple of days. He made sure to let everyone know that he couldn't make any guarantees, but right now, the metrics are looking good.
