My name is Lou Milano and I am the co-host of one of the weirdest radio shows in America, the I-95 Morning Show.

Our show has a little bit of everything without getting too far in the weeds on anything. It's not unusual for us to talk sports, politics and the best 90's movies in the same morning. Over the 15 year run of the show we've had the great pleasure of getting an in-depth look into the personalities of our local political leaders.

One of our favorite regular guests is New Milford Mayor Pete Bass who happens to be a huge New York Jets fan. So when Aaron Rodgers was knocked out of Monday Night's game with a season-ending achilles injury we had to call Mayor Bass and find out what he thought.

We spoke to the Mayor on the Wednesday (9/13/23) edition of the I-95 Morning Show and he wasted no time and launched into a Jets chant to start the interview saying:

Mayor: "J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets Jets!"

Dave: So we've had 36 hours to digest the news, the horror that was the season opener. I kind of feel the same was as you, do you still have that optimism?

Mayor: "I do because football is not just a one man game, it's a team effort. You saw that especially in the second half of the game on Monday night. We've got a good running game. we've got a great defense, hopefully Aaron can continue to guide Zach and I feel hopeful with the defense that we have. We've got to work on the offensive line as we all know but I'm hopeful. They didn't give up, they didn't quit and you know normally the Jets as we both know Large Dave things don't go our way but that punt return at the end MAN, I'm saying this is going to be a hopeful year."

Lou: You're a super positive dude because I think you might have missed something, Aaron Rodgers is out for the year.

Mayor: "I understand that and tragic as it is you've got to keep playing, you've got to keep with the people that you have and I know the organization is out looking for a second string quarterback or maybe someone to replace but I think right now we're with Zach. We've got some great running backs, we've got some great receivers that we didn't have last year when Zach was there."

POLL: WHO WILL HAVE THE BETTER SEASON, THE JETS OR GIANTS?

Ethan: We all saw on the show Hard Knocks that Aaron Rodgers was tutoring Zach Wilson and it seemed to have a big impact. Are we going to see a different Zach Wilson this year because of that?

Mayor: "If Aaron Rodgers continues that, absolutely. It depends on Aaron and his commitment and wanting to help the organization. Some people say he won't, I'm kind of an optimistic guy thinking that he wants to continue his legacy so I think you'll see him working with Zach. Like I said, football is a big team effort, we didn't have the weapons last year like we do this year, got a great defense. The real weakness is the offensive line, Large Dave we both knew that before the season even started."

Lou: I was on the phone with a Jets fan friend of mine we call Uncle Ricky. I said I've got some good news for you, I have a feeling this is not it. It was always a year at a time proposition, before all of this we didn't know if Rodgers would play next year no matter what happened this year. Now it's really in question because this is a serious injury that can take almost two years to heal in some cases but I don't think that will happen. I think he'll rehab it in under a year and I think he'll return. I don't think this guy wants to finish his stories career in this way, what do you say about that?

Mayor: "I 1000% agree with you. He wants to leave a legacy, a Hall of Fame legacy and what better way than to come to New York, to come back and lead us at least to the playoffs, it would be truly amazing."

Some of the NFL’s All-Time Most Feared Tough Guys – Part 1

I’ve been watching the NFL my whole life and while the game has changed drastically in my 42+ years, but one thing remains the same, you must be a “tough guy” to make it to the league. On that level of athleticism, all the players are strong and physical but some clearly are better than others. The following are some of the players who go beyond, passing the eye test and were flat out scary on a football field.

Some of the NFL’s All-Time Most Feared Tough Guys – Part 2

In Part 1 of this series, I featured John Lynch, Bill Romanowski, James Harrison, Maxx Crosby and Troy Polamalu. For part 2 I felt the need to go back a bit further for some of these players, guys I was not old enough to see play but I grew up reading about.

Danbury Area Folks Share Their NFL Fandom for Playoffs

I am an Oakland/LA/Las Vegas Raiders fan, and have been since I was a kid and I'm often outnumbered in NFL conversations, but not completely alone. In the NFL, there are fans of all kinds in every city in America.

Before the Raiders losing playoff game against the Bengals last weekend, I reached out to my friends who are Raiders fans and asked them to send me a photo of them wearing a jersey or celebrating the team in some way. I had a great response and it kicked off a fun sports conversation but it was for Raiders fans only.

I wanted to give the same opportunity to all NFL fans in the Greater-Danbury area, whether their team was in the playoffs or not. I sent out the call on my radio show and on social media and these are the responses I got back.
