I think it's safe to call this a sweet victory.

You may remember a few weeks back, we shared that a local sweet shop was asking for some help. They needed our votes to win the top spot in a national contest.

If you live in the Hudson Valley, you have more than likely heard of Samuel's Sweet Shop before. It's backed by big hitters like Hilarie Burton Morgan, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and Paul Rudd.

The small candy shop, nestled into East Market Street in Rhinebeck, is visited by thousands throughout the year from near and far. Samuel's is decked out in throwback pop culture memorabilia and of course delicious candy.  Check out their seasonal Poolside Sampler pack filled with sour raspberry lobsters, astronaut ice cream, old-fashioned rock candy, a 'Candy Mix' cassette tape and so much more.

With that being said, it looks like the Hudson Valley turned out to vote big time. When USA Today's 10Best list was first announced Samuel's was sitting comfortably in the #7 spot. By the end of the contest, they made it to #5.

We can proudly say Rhinebeck is home to one of the Top 5 Best Candy Shops in the US! How cool is that?

USA Today writes about the 5th best candy shop in the nation:

Not only does Samuel’s Sweet Shop in Rhinebeck sell a cornucopia of sugar-laden treats, there’s also a sweet backstory that comes along with it. This beloved neighborhood candy and coffee boutique is co-owned by actors Paul Rudd and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, plus a few other longtime customers, who all stepped in to save the store from closing after the original owner passed suddenly in 2014. As far as the goodies go, expect to find tasty options ranging from classic candy and chocolates to baked goods.

Is your sweet tooth buzzing now? Nothing a trip to Rhinebeck can't fix!
