Before you start packing your camping gear for a Sasquatch hunt, it's worth mentioning that the alleged discovery happened in the Adirondack Mountains, which are several hours north of us. Still, any Bigfoot story tied to New York is bound to grab the attention of folks here in the Hudson Valley and western Connecticut.

Charles Stuart, who calls himself "Snake the Bigfoot Hunter," says he recovered the decomposing body of an 8-foot-tall, 300-pound creature in the Adirondacks back in 2024. Now he's making an even bigger claim. Stuart says DNA testing proves the remains belong to a real Sasquatch and that the creature's genetic makeup is a combination of Neanderthal and modern human DNA.

According to Stuart, the testing suggests the creature came from an ancient bloodline that somehow survived while remaining isolated for thousands of years. He even claims the body, which he's nicknamed "Dack," belonged to a young adult and believes there could be more of these creatures living deep in the forests and caves of upstate New York.

Not surprisingly, plenty of people aren't buying it.

Bigfoot researchers and skeptics alike have questioned Stuart's claims, with some calling the entire thing an elaborate hoax. Others believe the story is simply generating buzz ahead of this year's Great New York State Fair, where Stuart plans to put the alleged Sasquatch back on display.

As of now, none of Stuart's extraordinary claims have been independently verified, and Cornell University has not publicly confirmed the DNA testing he says was performed.

So, is Bigfoot really hiding in New York? The debate continues, but it's certainly one of the stranger stories to come out of the Empire State this year.
