Savoring Invasive Crabs Could Benefit Connecticut’s Waters
Would you like to be worried about another invasive species in Connecticut? This isn't a bad one for once, we can actually eat them.
The waters of Long Island Sound and the Atlantic Ocean are teeming with life, we saw dolphins and seals and sharks along the shoreline this year, but another pest has washed up. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has warned us about the invasive Chinese Mitten Crab way back in 2012, and we're still fighting that battle. Horseshoe crabs along the shoreline are good, but the European Green Crab is something that we don't want here, so let's eat them.

According to fox61.com, European Green Crabs are among the most aggressive species in Long Island Sound and they're upsetting our precious eco-system, so experts are saying that we should eat them, and Connecticut just passed a law easing regulations on these little critters in order for them to be easier for us to legally catch and eat them, in restaurants or at home.
I love eating crab, my favorites are the legs from Alaskan King and Snow crabs, the meat from Maryland Blue Crabs, and the claw meat from Dungeness and Jonah crabs. We don't have any specialty crab restaurants like Phillips or Joe's Crab Shack in Connecticut, but there are plenty of places that do serve them.
According to greencrab.org, Peter Eshenfelder is a green crab harvester based in New London, and there are quite a few other crabbers up and down the New England coastline waiting for your order.
