New Study Ranks Connecticut Among Top States For Women’s Health
Would you like to feel good about your health ladies of Connecticut? Well, a new study has just been released that ranks the best and worst states in the US for women's health, and Connecticut has landed at #2.

SmileHub.org has just released Best States for Women's Health (2026) and once again most states in New England and the Tri-State area have landed near the top of the list. In order to determine their rankings and the best & worst states for Women's health in 2026, SmileHub compared all 50 states across three key dimensions: Health & Living Standards, Health Care Policies & Support System, and Safety Risk.
That data was further evaluated using 18 relevant metrics: Life Expectancy at Birth, Female Uninsured Rate, Infant Mortality rate, Female Smoker rate, Health & Wellness Charities, Quality of Women's Hospitals, Abortion Policies & Access, and unaffordability of Doctor's Visits.
SmileHub's research found that Connecticut has the highest quality women's hospitals in all of the US, the third highest women's life expectancy at birth, and the fifth lowest maternal mortality rate. Overall Connecticut ranked at #2, with Massachusetts ranking in at #1. Hawaii came in at #3, New York at #4, Vermont at #5, New Jersey at #7, and New Hampshire at #9. Rhode Island and Maine hit the Top 20. The bottom five, the worst states for women's health in 2026? Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, Arkansas, and the worst - Oklahoma.
The more I report on studies that take the nation as a whole and compares life here in New England compared to the South and Midwest, the more I appreciate the sea of humanity that we live among.
