According to CSB, a new study tried to figure out which states have the highest odds of being home to a “soccer mom”… and apparently Texas came out on top.

Texas?

I’m sorry, but how is Texas more of a soccer mom state than Connecticut?

Listen, if the category was bull-riding moms, sure — Texas can have that one. But when it comes to minivans, folding chairs on the sidelines, travel teams, orange slices, and yelling at referees like it’s the World Cup… that feels like peak Nutmeg State behavior.

If you’ve ever spent a Saturday morning anywhere near a youth soccer field in Connecticut, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Parking lots full of minivans. Parents holding coffees the size of a flower pot. Someone loudly questioning a call like their kid is about to get scouted by the Premier League.

This is who we are.

So how did Texas take the crown? According to the report, the study created something called a “Soccer Mom Index.” Researchers looked at things like youth sports participation rates, the number of kids per capita, and even the number of minivans on the road.

Texas landed at the top largely because it reportedly has the highest youth sports participation rate in the country.

Still… Connecticut not even cracking the top five feels like a huge oversight.

According to the study, the states where you’re most likely to be a soccer mom are:

1. Texas
2. Wyoming
3. North Dakota
4. Mississippi
5. Nebraska

Again… no Connecticut.

Which honestly feels wrong, because if there’s one thing we do extremely well here in the Nutmeg State, it’s youth sports parents taking things way too seriously.

So either this study missed something… or Connecticut parents are about to start yelling at statisticians the same way they yell at referees.
