It’s Official, Brookfield Dairy Queen Set to Open in Spring 2022
If you've driven down Federal Road in Brookfield recently, you may have noticed that the new DQ has a set opening date.
It's been in the planning stages since back in June when the Brookfield Zoning Commission first discussed the possibility of a new DQ coming to Federal Road. Now the dream is becoming a reality as the construction continues on what will become Brookfield's first Dairy Queen fast food restaurant.
The new location is at 138 Federal Road right across the street from the Brookfield Shop Rite.
For many years, the Brookfield Shell station was located on the new DQ property. The station closed a number of years ago, and was eventually demolished. This gave the town an opportunity to consider the possibility for a new fast food option, and Dairy Queen seemed to fit the local need.
According to the company's web site, dairyqueen.com, the popular ice cream and burger restaurant operates over 7000 DQ restaurants in more than 20 countries, and have been in business for more than 80 years.
Their menu is most famous for their Blizzard treat shakes, which will be available in 5 different flavors. They also specialize in fast food favorites like their loaded A1 steakhouse burger. It's topped with A1 Thick & Hearty Sauce, creamy peppercorn sauce, thick-cut Applewood smoked bacon, melted American cheese and crunchy onion rings.
You'll also be able to pick up other DQ favorites like the bacon cheese grill burger, or a crispy or grilled chicken sandwich.
Now I know what you're thinking, with a Chick Fil-A and a Moe's nearby, plus a Shop Rite across the street, how bad is the traffic going to be once the new DQ opens?
Well, the Connecticut Department of Transportation is set to begin road improvements in the area with an 8.5 million dollar road project that has been in the planning and development stage for the last six years. The project is set to include sidewalks, bus shelters, left turn lanes and new traffic lights, and Brookfield Town Officials hope it will cut down on car accidents and alleviate some of the congestion that occurs in that area daily. You can read more about that in an article we published earlier this month, Brookfield Rt. 202 Construction to Begin, Expect Traffic Delays.
The new DQ Grill and Chill in Brookfield is set to be ready for its first customers sometime this spring, just in time for the warmer weather.
