    Eagle Watch on the Connecticut River

    Jerry Connolly leads Eagle Watches every year for the past 28. He knows these birds pretty well, he’s the owner of The Audubon Shop in Madison. Tickets sell quickly so get yours early. Cost is $25 includes lunch at Otter Cove Restaurant in Old Saybrook.

    "Eagles of Essex"

    Connecticut River Museum at 67 Main Street in Essex, CT. has this exhibit through March 19 which displays the life of the Bald Eagle and how they have made CT their winter home for the past 50 years. Kids can try to build a large eagle’s nest and there’s even a boat cruise you can take along the Connecticut River (more on that on the next item on this list. The exhibit runs Tuesdays through Sundays from 10:00am to 5pm.

    Winter Wildlife Eagle Cruises

    Connecticut is the winter oasis for bald eagles as they fly down from as far north as Canada in search of open, ice-free waters to fish. You can learn all about their survival as you board the RiverQuest and cruise down the Connecticut River. It all starts at the Connecticut River Museum, 67 Main Street in Essex, CT. Fridays 10:00am and 12:30 pm, Saturdays and Sundays 9:00am, 11:30am and 2:00pm. $40 and no children under 10.

    Bauer Series: Live Raptor Show

    St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church at 232 Durham Road in Madison, CTwill present this show about a bird rescue and rehabilitation center in Killingworth, CT called “A Place Called Hope” this Sunday from 10:00am – 11:00am admission is free. Click here for more info

    Bald Eagle Viewing

    You can see bald eagles in action with high-powered telescopes in Southbury. Visitors have seen ten or more plus other birds of prey. Make sure you dress warm and grab your binoculars too.
