I love to kick around hypotheticals and chat about nonsense. I feel like it gives people an opportunity to stretch their brain legs and not worry about what others think because nothing is at stake.

If the Greater-Danbury Area Towns Were Christmas Movies

When this topic came up in our office, my ears perked right up. The question was simple “If Greater Danbury Towns Were Christmas movies, which would they be and why? It’s so simple and yet so complex, it made no sense and gave me a topic to argue with my friends. I was so excited about it, I wrote them down, and this is the list:

If your town was the butt of a joke and you don’t like it, take it up with the complaint department. Frankly, this was as nice as I could possibly be, plus I love these towns and this whole area so I can let loose every once in awhile.

Former Brewster Bar Now a Popular Gourmet Bakery Called 'General Bakeshop'

Back in April of 2021, I noticed some signs of life in a building I, and so many other Brewster people are familiar with. Construction was underway at a former bar known as “Norm’s.” Right around that time, I wrote an article about the bar’s history and looked forward to see what would come of the space. The building recently began it’s new chapter and I had to go down and check out the new General Bakeshop to see how the work came out and how the food was.

Danbury Officials Throw Parade for UFC Champ + Hat City Resident Glover Teixeira

Glover Teixeira had already met with the new Mayor Elect and was swarmed by fight fans and Hat City residents in Roger Park. All that was left to do was an official parade and ceremony for the public which took place on Sunday November 14, 2021. Flanked by local officials Glover took a ride down Main Street to Rogers Park where he was gifted a plaque commemorating his victory over Jan Blachowicz.

Amazing Pictures and Facts About I-95 (WRKI) and it's Broadcast Tower

Mark Weiss is a retired broadcast engineer, avid I-95 listener and a drone enthusiast. Recently, I published an article that featured drone photography and Mark messaged me and said, "that's nothing, you should see what I have."

I asked him to share what he had and he sent these stunning photos. He photographed the I-95 (WRKI) broadcast tower from above. Weiss shot the photos in 2018. He sent them to me and attached a note that read: "Flown by DJI Phantom 4 Pro 2.0."

Rather than just publish the photos, I wanted to add some accessory information. I spoke to a few current employees, a few former employees and dug through the oldest file cabinet we have to find out some things, even I didn't know. These are some amazing photos of our broadcast tower and some fun information about it's history and the history of I-95.

13 Dead Giveaways That You're Not From the Danbury Area

There is no great way to do this without laying out the boundaries. For the purposes of getting eyeballs on it, I said "Danbury Area" but we all know that this extends beyond. This is an odd place, and we all have a lot in common that we don't talk about because it's pointless to.

So, this list is for Danbury, Brookfield, Bethel, Ridgefield, Newtown, New Milford, New Fairfield, Brewster, Mahopac, Carmel, Somers and I guess we will include North Salem but only if you promise not to get cute with me.

Being from the Greater Danbury Area means a lot of things and we can all identify them without having to ask too many questions or probe too deep. We can spot an outsider from a mile away. If you are attempting to blend, good luck and beware of the following.

These are 13 Dead Giveaways That You're Not From the Greater-Danbury Area.
