Last week's THE BIG JEEP THING event held in Harrybrooke park in New Milford, CT was a success. There were hundreds of Jeep enthusiasts that came from all over Connecticut and New York and the surrounding states. All of the money donated went to Harrybrooke park to keep it maintained because the park doesn't receive official funding.

The event was not secluded to only wranglers -- if it had a Jeep badge on the hood, it was allowed in. There were Jeeps from the 1940s all the way up to the new 2019 Wrangler JL. The weather was perfect for showing off your jeep or to just admire the park and all the events that were going on that day.

The BIG JEEP THING

Throughout the day, there were three obstacle courses that were available; the mud pit, the rock garden, and the balance machine. There was a good amount of people that were successful in these challenges, stock Jeeps were not recommended. Some of the upgrades that people had were big tires, lift kits, shocks, coils, and axels just to name a few. I asked some of the people showing off their jeeps where did they go and get their jeeps worked on. Almost everyone looked at me like I was a little crazy. They said we do all of our work on our jeeps at our own shop or our friends shops. That's the beauty of jeeps, there a great car to learn and work on and there is a ton of people around this area that can help you with your jeep whether you want to upgrade it or just fix something on it.

This was the fourth year for THE BIG JEEP THING and it has grown every year and is a fun event for all ages and of course Jeep lovers. The next BIG Jeep event in Connecticut will be the Great American Jeep Rally held in Ellington, CT and will be on September 14 from 9 AM - 4 PM.
