Putnam County Police K9 Tracks Down Suspect in Carmel
A local police K9 helped officers find a man who was allegedly hiding in a wooded area with tall grass.
On Wednesday around 5:30 a.m., officers from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and K9 Lex responded to a home in the Town of Carmel to assist the Carmel Police Department with a man who had fled the scene after an alleged violent domestic incident.
A police officer obtained an article of the man's clothing which was used as a "scent article".
The "scent article" was introduced to a Putnam County Sheriff's Office K9, Lex. Lex used the scent and was able to find the man in a wooded area. The man was found lying in a tall grassy area, police say.
The unnamed man was then handcuffed and turned over to members of the Carmel Police Department.
