Danbury Honors 17 of the City’s Finest With Dedication of Memorial Park
This Sunday at 10:00 am, the city of Danbury will honor seventeen of its finest at a dedication ceremony for the brand new Police and Fire Memorial Park.
This tranquil space was recently completed at the corner of Main and East Franklin Streets. It is a place to remember and honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our community.
The ten members of the Fire Department who will be honored on Sunday are:
- Assistant Chief Richard Fitzsimmons
- Firefighter Walter Gebert
- Lieutenant Paul Kraiger
- Captain Charles Rush
- Firefighter Joseph Kuba
- Firefighter Joseph Halas
- Lieutenant Martin "Butch" Melody
- Assistant Chief Thomas Morris
- Firefighter Thomas Burke
- Firefighter Arthur McCormack Sr.
There will also be seven members of the Police Department who will be honored:
- Officer Florence Sullivan
- Officer Robert Keating
- Constable Frederick Ellis
- Officer Steven Michalko
- Captain Dennis Cooney
- Officer Donald Hassiak
- Detective William Hull
