God, I love happy endings, and God, do I love dogs.

Two of my loves came together today, and it's a story about a disgusting crime and a lot of hard work by the Connecticut State Police, that make it right for the victims.

According to the Connecticut State Police, an unidentified family had their vehicle stolen while they had stopped at the northbound rest stop in Fairfield on Interstate 95. It happened early in the morning after a major snowstorm on February 2, 2021. The worst part? The thieves took off with the stolen vehicle and the poor family dog, identified as Cindy, was still in it.

The stolen vehicle was recovered a short time later, but unfortunately, Cindy wasn't in it when they found the vehicle. Detectives from the State Police Western District Major Crimes Squad assumed the investigation and began trying to track Cindy down through numerous search & seizure warrants.

The good news? Their hard work paid off yesterday. September 22, 2021. 7 long months later, Detectives conducting surveillance in Waterbury located and recovered Cindy without incident. Cindy was taken to a local vet to be checked out and now is in the custody of the CT State Police in the Waterbury Animal Control building until she can be reunited with her family.

I have a 1 year old Chihuahua and have been a dog owner for most of my life. I can't imagine what that poor family went through over the past 7 months, imagining what Cindy could have possibly been going through. Great job CT State Police Western District Major Crimes Squad. It's nice to hear good news like this.
