Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued Greater Danbury, Putnam County

What a difference a day makes. Despite a crisp and clear, near perfect Tuesday, it appears as though the local skies could get pretty nasty very quickly within the next 24 hours.

According to the National Weather Service, a hazardous weather outlook has been issued for most of southern Connecticut, including the Greater Danbury area, and southeast New York, including Putnam County and the lower portion of the Hudson Valley.

The NWS predicts that while conditions will remain clear throughout the rest of the day, our area will see between one to three inches of rainfall, or maybe even more, over the course of Wednesday afternoon (October 16) into Wednesday night.

Residents should be on the lookout for possible flash flooding along what the NWS describes as fast responding small rivers and streams, as well as low-lying coastal roads.

The forecast suggests that the rain will likely begin just after 2:00 PM on Wednesday, becoming increasingly heavy at times, and finishing up some time before 2:00 AM Wednesday night / Thursday morning.

Wind gusts could reach speeds as high as 28 miles per hour.
