First responders in the Greater Danbury area took part in a "Salute to Hero Parade," on Monday afternoon (April 27), located outside of Danbury Hospital. The parade paid tribute to all of the health care workers at Nuvance Health Danbury Hospital.

All first responders throughout the Danbury area wanted to be able to show their appreciation for everything that the medical staff have been doing during this pandemic. The Danbury Fire Department shared why participating in the parade was so important to them, making this statement on their Facebook page:

"Our healthcare workers have been working tirelessly through this pandemic and this was just as small token of our appreciation for them!"

This comes on the very anniversary of when Danbury Hospital first opened its doors in 1885, 135 years ago!

Thank you to all who participated and all in attendance including Danbury Fire Department, Bethel Fire Department, Danbury Police Department, CT State Police, Mayor Mark Boughton, Modzelewski's Recovery & Heavy HaulingDanbury & New Fairfield Lions Club, City of Danbury, all other first responders and others in attendance.
