2021 has been an interesting year in local politics and events in the Greater Danbury area and the Ethan and Lou Show has been along for the ride paying close attention to the local campaigns.

It goes without saying that we spent a majority of our time on the Danbury Mayoral election but there were other important spots to be determined throughout the Greater Danbury area. Here are the top line results from throughout the Greater Danbury area.

Danbury -

  • Republican Dean Esposito defeats Democrat Roberto Alves for Mayor.

Bethel -

  • Democrat Matt Knickerbocker ran unopposed and won First Selectman.

Brookfield -

  • Republican Tara Carr defeated Democrat Steve Dunn and unaffiliated Austin Monteiro to win First Selectman.

Newtown -

  • Newtown First Selectman Dan Rosenthal ran unopposed and was re-elected to First Selectman.

New Milford -

  • Republican Mayor Pete Bass was elected to his third term as Mayor after defeating Democrat Ted Hine.

Others Races we followed on the Ethan and Lou Show -

  • Republican and now, former Mayor Joe Cavo won an at-large seat on the City Council where he was President prior to taking over as Mayor for Mark Boughton
  • Republican Kevin McConville upended Democrat Robert Langley. McConville is the new Putnam County Sheriff

I'm most happy for Joe Cavo, in getting to know Cavo over the last year I know he's a person who truly cares about his city and will do anything to help the residents of Danbury.

We watched Joe step into unusual circumstances replacing a wildly popular Mayor during the most difficult of times, in the heart of a global pandemic. Joe exhibited strength and world-class leadership in 2021.

I know he felt it was his duty and we are all lucky to have had him in the role of Mayor during this trying period in Danbury and America. Now he gets to return to City Council where he wanted to be in the first place. His service to his community was appreciated by many and he was rewarded for it by the voters

13 Dead Giveaways That You're Not From the Danbury Area

There is no great way to do this without laying out the boundaries. For the purposes of getting eyeballs on it, I said "Danbury Area" but we all know that this extends beyond. This is an odd place, and we all have a lot in common that we don't talk about because it's pointless to.

So, this list is for Danbury, Brookfield, Bethel, Ridgefield, Newtown, New Milford, New Fairfield, Brewster, Mahopac, Carmel, Somers and I guess we will include North Salem but only if you promise not to get cute with me.

Being from the Greater Danbury Area means a lot of things and we can all identify them without having to ask too many questions or probe too deep. We can spot an outsider from a mile away. If you are attempting to blend, good luck and beware of the following.

These are 13 Dead Giveaways That You're Not From the Greater-Danbury Area.

A Tour of the Ice Arena for the Danbury Hat Tricks Victorious Weekend

This season is underway at the Danbury Ice Arena and it began in victorious fashion. I was in the Arena for Friday and Saturday's games and I experienced the entire thing for you. Once you are done checking this out, you are going to buy tickets, that is not a threat, it's just what is going to happen.

There is something for everyone inside that arena, even if you don't like hockey. There were a ton of activities to be a part of in the Arena, even if you don't like hockey. That's not my style, if I go for a game I want to watch it but all the extras don't hurt the experience one bit,
