Gordon Ramsay Takes Another Shot at Success in Connecticut
International chef/multiple restaurant owner/acerbic television personality Gordon Ramsay is no stranger to Connecticut, he's been in our area a couple of times recently with restaurant makeovers in Seymour and Waterbury. Both of those Ramsay-retooled places have shut down since, but he's coming back again to try again at success, this time at Foxwoods.
According to Foxwoods.com, you can now make reservations to eat at the brand new Gordon Ramsay Hell's Kitchen. The brand-new restaurant will officially open for business on Saturday, July 15, 2023 in Foxwood's Grand Pequot Tower. Hell's Kitchen will be open for lunch Friday to Sunday from 11:30AM to 4PM, and open for dinner 7 days a week from 4:30PM to 11PM. According to gordonramsayrestaurants.com, the Foxwoods Hell's kitchen this will be the sixth in the US, with locations already in Atlantic City, Washington DC, Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, and Southern California.
I took a look through the menu at all 5 existing locations, and they're pretty similar. All feature appetizers priced between $20 and $35, salads that run $17 and $25, and entrees that go between $39 and $63. The menus feature classic appetizers including a shrimp cocktail, scallops and even the dreaded foie gras. You'll have to shell out almost $70 for a filet mignon wrapped in a pastry shell, Hell's Kitchen's Beef Wellington is the most expensive item on most of the menus at $69.99.
My friends who did eat at Stone's Throw in Seymour and Vasi's in Waterbury came away unimpressed. They were impressed with the decor of both, but the food? Not so much. I'm betting that Foxwoods and Gordon will bring their best for his own brand.
