For the last 12 summers, Frank Pepe's Pizzeria Napoletana has been serving up their legendary Fresh Tomato Pie. WTNH tells us that the start date this summer is on Saturday, June 26th and for a limited time will be available at all Connecticut locations, including Danbury.

Every summer, the wife and I will usually go through at least five of Pepe's amazing mouth-watering pizzas. Then, we pack up two of these tomato pies to share with our friends when we schlep up to Sacandaga Lake for our week-long vacation.

The secret ingredients for this seasonal pie are Frank Pepe's "Genuine Italian Tomatoes," which can be purchased at all Pepe's restaurants and their online store.

The tomato pie is topped with fresh native tomatoes, mozzarella, a touch of garlic, basil, grated cheese, and just a touch of olive oil. It's like having a party in your mouth with a food orgasm to finish.

The New York Times calls Pepe's "pizza with a pedigree, baked in a 650-degree oven for only a few minutes and emerges like bubbling lava, their crusts puffed, charred and blistered."
