We've all been on job interviews and I'm sure you've been to one where you really felt like maybe this is not the job for me. The way I always look at it is this is the opportunity to not only let yourself shine but also to interview your potential employer. I've put together a list of things that should be a red flag.

    Personal Questions

If one of the questions that your potential boss asks is "Do you hear voices in your head?" that's probably a good sign that you should perhaps look into another job.

    The Interviewer Gets Personal

On that same note, if you hear,"The voices in my head tell me that you are the right person for the job," there is probably a better way to spend 8 hours every day than to be supervised by this particular person.

The Interviewer Doesn't Know Much About the Company

When the interviewer asks, "Do you have any questions for me?" and you say, "what do you like about the company?" and the reply is, "I don't know, today is my first day," probably means longevity is not a thing there.

What Do You Think of Me?

The interviewer tells you about the company and their job there and goes on and on about themselves and how wonderful they are. Then they say, "Enough about me, we're here to talk about you. What do you think of me?" I'd say it's time to find the door.

    Lots of Work-No Extra Dinero

If you are asked if you would be available for extra hours and you say yes. They tell you that there are plenty of extra hours every week. You smile and tell them you are totally willing to take home more money and they look at you and say, "oh, no, there's no overtime pay. You are expected to put in extra hours, it looks good to management." That's probably a good sign that you'd be looking for a new job while this job was still new so why bother?
