Last weeks home explosion in North Haven, CT, sent nine members of the police, state troopers and SWAT team to the hospital.

According to, records show that the home is owned by John and Deborah Sayre. Mrs. Sayre had filed for divorce last month. She was allegedly held hostage from Saturday, April 28, 2018 and escaped to a neighbors house at about 2:30pm on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 when police were called. When emergency personnel arrived, they tried to coax the man out of the barn where he had barricaded himself. At about 8:30pm an explosion occurred which leveled the barn, demolished the home and sent nine officers to the hospital.

Deborah Sayre, the owner of the home at 385 Quinnipiac Avenue, North Haven, CT,  sent a letter to the Editor of the New Haven Register. In that letter, she expressed her gratitude to all of the first responders who rushed to her home that day. She also expressed her relief that the injured were all out of the hospital and that there were no deaths.
