According to a press release, the Danbury Fire Department responded to a call at 40 Taylor Street, the location of the Mannkind Corporation building.

The call came in on Tuesday, November 15 around 7 am, according to the press release:

Firefighters arrived on scene and were told by employees that company equipment caught on fire and a staff member was able to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.

As a precaution, Mannkind Corporation was able to evacuate the building before firefighters arrived. The press release also mentioned that one employee was taken to the hospital to be evaluated, no word on their condition. Mannkind reported some damage to equipment but the fact that it wasn't worse and no one was seriously injured is definitely a good thing.

One downfall to this whole thing is that because Mannkind Corporation is a pharmaceutical company, the fire automatically triggers a response from the Federal Government in the form of The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection as a precaution and they were on the scene as well. The press release also adds this about fire extinguishers...

A portable fire extinguisher can save lives and property by putting out a small fire or containing it until fire crews arrive, but portable extinguishers have limitations. Because fire spreads so rapidly, the number one priority is to get out safely.
