Fire on Main Street in Danbury Leaves Two Apartments Damaged
It is never a good thing when emergency services say they had a busy day. But, that's exactly what Danbury Fire Department posted on their Facebook page yesterday.
Fire was spotted in a window of The Laurel Gardens Danbury Housing Complex at 385 Main Street. A Police Sergeant happened to be leaving the police station when he noticed the fire at what is known as the D Building. The blaze was contained by fire sprinklers which kicked into action. Firefighters managed to keep the fire from spreading out of the kitchen area where it began. However, the apartment suffered smoke and water damage. There was also water damage incurred in the apartment directly below the apartment where the fire broke out.
Firefighters from B Platoon, Danbury Police and Emergency Medical Services were all on hand to assist. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported and the fire was quickly extinguished. The Danbury Fire Marshals Office is investigating.
