The Farmer's Almanac recently released its winter weather predictions for 2024-2025, which reads,

Brace yourself for a Wet Winter WhirlwindFarmers’ Almanac winter weather forecast calls for a season of rapid-fire storms that will bring both rain and snow, with little downtime in between. Here is everything you need to know about the extended weather forecast, including an important winter weather advisory.

The Ethan, Lou, and 'Not So Large' Dave Show meteorologist Jack Drake once explained that scientifically, it's nearly impossible to predict weather patterns so far in advance, but so what? Let's take a look anyway!

According to nbcconneticut.com, the Almanac predicts moderate precipitation and snowfall this upcoming season. The snowiest parts will occur in early December, mid-February, and early March. The rest of Connecticut is part of the Atlantic Corridor Region. The Almanac predicts average to slightly above-average temperatures for this winter. According to the Almanac, we can expect cold spells in mid-December, early and late January, and late February.

As the publication states, the Almanac reaches its forecast conclusions "...by using a formula devised by its founder, Robert B. Thomas, in 1792." Their calculations are also based on solar science, climatology, meteorology, and state-of-the-art technology. But wait just one minute, says NBC Connecticut Storm Tracker Chief Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan, who states:

"Modern forecasting models are much more reliable and that while the Old Farmer's Almanac is fun to look at, its predictions are not based on science."

According to the Almanac, New England and the Northeast will experience a wet winter whirlwind that is “stormy with above-normal amounts of winter precipitation and near-to above-normal temperatures.”
