In January of 2022, Newtown, CT was home to a raging inferno. The building that was most recently the home to McGuire’s Ale House burned to the ground. A host of local Fire Departments battled the blaze, with smoke clouds being seen for miles.
Exploring the Aftermath of the Hideous Inferno at Newtown’s McGuire’s Ale House
When the story broke, I was talking about it and people started to call with their memories of McGuire’s Ale House and Hot Shots II. One of the arguments that sprung up became whether or not Hot Shots II had a live lobster claw game. Like a teddy bear claw game that you might find in Dave & Busters, there are machines that are similar. The machine lets you attempt to claw a live lobster out of the tank for a fistful of quarters. I’m still not convinced there ever was one.
The day of the fire, our sister station was sent a video of it from one of our listeners that was passing by.
The listener goes by "Daverunsforpizza" and he's really active on the Instagram page.
This is what we do here, we have eyes and ears everywhere. There is no slipping one past us, it just does not happen, unless I'm on vacation. I'm human after all, I'm not walking off the beach to collect and distribute fire videos when I'm chilling super hard.
