Yeah, I know it's one of the seven deadly sins, but my favorite is gluttony. There are times that I throw caution to the wind and overindulge with fine food and drink. I already know the next time that I'm going to overindulge - March 24-31, 2023. That's when Litchfield, Connecticut is hosting its first ever restaurant week.

Hartford, New Haven, Greenwich, New Milford, and Southbury, even Canton, have all worked together with local restaurants in their cities and towns to offer a special prix fixe menu on lunch and dinner dishes for their restaurant weeks. It's a great concept for our communities to get some extra bodies into local businesses that are struggling so mightily to survive.

But the Litchfield Economic Development Commission's inaugural Litchfield Restaurant Week is different from the rest, because of the caliber and stature of its participating restaurants, they're among the best in Connecticut.

For example, the 2023 Connecticut Magazine Reader's Choice award for best Italian restaurant in all of Connecticut went to Materia Ristorante, and even though they are in Bantam, they're participating in Litchfield's Restaurant week. You've heard of @ The Corner, always mentioned in 'Connecticut's Best' conversations, or Mockingbird Kitchen & Bar, they're participating too.

Wood's Pit BBQ & Mexican Cafe, Bohemian Pizza and Tacos, Market Place Tavern, and The Village Restaurant are listed as early participants too, with more being teased as on the way. I'm in Litchfield, and I love the three tier prix fixe pricing that has been announced - $25, $35, and $45. Litchfield's inaugural restaurant week is March 24-31, 2023.

I am proud to call Connecticut my home but it can be a frustrating place to live some days. The expense of living here is obnoxious and the pace of play is off the charts. In CT, cliches happen but are hardly tolerated. The community sense of humor here can be cruel so if you have nothing but canned sayings, you're gonna take a beating from your audience. But that is not the only reason these sayings don't work here, there are others that are specific to the phrase. These are 7 Common Sayings that Just Don't Work in CT.
