The State of Connecticut will be hearing from a very special guest Monday afternoon (August 3) during Governor Ned Lamont's daily COVID-19 briefing.

Since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, Gov. Lamont has been conducting live virtual briefings each day at 4:00 PM from the state capital. During the briefings, Connecticut residents have been informed of all things related to the pandemic from the initial declaration of a state of emergency, to each executive order, to current COVID-19 statistics and everything in between. Today's briefing, however, will be among the most noteworthy, as Gov. Lamont will be joined by the Director of he National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force Dr. Anthony Fauci.

In a Monday morning social media post announcing Dr. Fauci's appearance, Gov. Lamont wrote, "I appreciate Dr. Fauci for accepting my invitation to join us today for our COVID-19 news briefing to discuss the effects of the virus around the country and its impact on Connecticut.

Most recently, Dr. Anthony Fauci has been focused on the potential for a legitimate COVID-19 vaccine being made available in the near future, as well as offering his guidance to entire the country in regards to social distancing and the protective measures that he believes all citizens should take in order to mitigate the spread of the virus.

This is a developing story and we'll be sure to keep you updated on what Dr. Fauci has to say as he speaks alongside Gov. Lamont later this afternoon.
