Do You Remember the Danbury Fair Food Court From the ’80s and ’90s?
The Great Danbury Fair was born in 1869 and was known as the Danbury Pleasure Park. Originally a three-day event, the annual fair was extended to 10 days yearly. Attractions included agricultural exhibits, food booths, rides, and entertainment, although animal and farm-grown food exhibits remained the most popular draws.
In 1981, the Wilmorite Corporation, based in Rochester, New York, purchased the land to build an enormous mall that measured 1,226,000 square feet. The mall opened its doors in 1986 and included, as most large malls did, an extensive food court, and that's why we're here: to examine some of the classic food court selections in the 80s and 90s when Danbury Fair was just starting. Take a look at the YouTube video below to find out what came before the Danbury Fair Mall.
