Danbury Wrestling Coach Is Connecticut’s Coach Of The Year

He's already a member of four Wrestling Hall of Fame's, and this marks the fourth time he's been named Connecticut Coach of the Year.

He's Coach Ricky Shook, and once again this year he was named the Connecticut Coach of the Year. It's the second year in a row he's been honored in Connecticut, he's also won the award in 2008 and 2009.

According to ctwrestling.com, late last week the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced that Coach Shook from Danbury High School would be the 2020 Connecticut Coach of the Year.

The honor comes after an undefeated season for the Hatters, they went 16-0, and won the New England, State Open, Class LL State and FCIAC championships, it doesn't get much better then that.

Since taking over the Hatters head coaching reigns back in 1999, Coach Shook has compiled a very impressive resume and record as the wrestling head coach. During this time he's put together a 380-24 overall record, won 17 Class LL State championships, 16 State Open titles, and three New England championships.

Coach Shook is no stranger to receiving high honors as Danbury's Wrestling head coach. He's not only a member of the Connecticut chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, but has also been inducted into the New England High School Wrestling Hall of Fame, and last year received a Gold Key award courtesy of the Connecticut Sports Writers Alliance.
