Police: Danbury Teen Charged With Murder After Drive-By Shooting, More Arrests to Follow

Less than two weeks after a drive-by shooting took the life of a Danbury teenager, one of his peers has been arrested and charged in connection with the tragic crime.

Late last month, Juneteenth / Father's Day weekend ended in tragic fashion in the Hat City, as the aforementioned drive-by shooting claimed the life of 18-year-old Danbury resident, Yhameek Johnson.

Right around 8:00 PM on Sunday evening, June 20, 2021, Danbury Police say they received multiple reports from residents claiming to have heard gunshots ringing out in the area of Mill Ridge Road. When responding officers arrived, they reportedly found a gathering of residents in the area of 19 Mill Ridge Road attempting to provide aid to Johnson. While awaiting emergency personnel and an ambulance to arrive, the officers on the scene cared for the young Danbury man before we was later transported to Danbury Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Amidst an ongoing investigation of the persons involved and the events that led up to the shooting, local investigators say they've identified 17-year-old Elvis Anthony Agramonte of Danbury as the person they believe to be primarily responsible for the heinous crime. Police say that Agramonte was arrested on Friday, July 2, after a warrant was issued by a Danbury Superior Court Judge.

At the time of his arrest, the Danbury teen had reportedly already been in the custody of the Connecticut Juvenile Detention system. He has been officially remanded to custody and charged with murder, criminal attempt  to commit assault in the first degree, risk of injury to a minor, carrying a pistol without a permit, weapons in a vehicle, reckless endangerment, and illegal possession of a license plate.

Authorities say that while the investigation into the drive-by shooting itself, more potential suspects, and a possible motive remains active, more arrests are anticipated in the coming days.
