With an estimated 5,000 undocumented immigrants living in Danbury, Mayor Mark Boughton laid out the city's stance on President Trump's immigration policy.

As the controversy rages throughout the country on the Trump administration's latest immigration policies, Danbury's Mayor, Mark Boughton, told nbcconnecticut.com that the city will cooperate with federal authorities when it comes to the enforcement of immigration laws.

Danbury's Common Council President Joe Cavo also commented about the city's policy, saying:

If we can't control those illegal immigrants who are criminals, we're going to have a real problem. We can't have people in our city who have committed crimes here or in their own country. We support the Federal Government's policy.

Immigrants living in the city are not so confidant with the city's policies, mainly because no one has talked to them about what type of cooperation officials are looking for when it comes to federal authorities.

The story gained statewide attention and was featured in a segment on NBC Connecticut News.
