Danbury Public Schools to Launch Distance Learning Program
As the State of Connecticut, and more specifically, the Greater Danbury area continues to do as much as we all can to "flatten the curve" and reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus, we need to find new and innovative ways to keep our youth educated while physical classes are not currently in session.
With that, the Danbury Public School system is just about ready to launch a "distance learning" program.
According to an announcement from Mayor Mark Boughton on Wednesday evening (March 25), the newly designed program is scheduled to launch this coming Monday, March 30.
While the exact details of how the program will work will roll out in the coming days, Mayor Mark says that city parents must obtain a Gmail username and password specific for students enrolled in Danbury schools. Those credentials can be obtained by visiting your child's dedicated school's website.
In addition to the announcement of the program, Boughton said that in response to COVID-19, "the City of Danbury and Danbury Public Schools remain committed to distributing food to students through breakfast and lunch programs at designated school locations throughout the city from 8 am to 11:30 am Monday- Friday."
It was also noted that most cable and internet providers are willing to allow free internet access for students who come from families in need.
