Danbury Public Schools Announce Distance Learning in the Fall
This upcoming school year has been a mystery to most. With children expected to head back to school for in-classroom learning, parents have been eagerly waiting to hear the logistics of going back.
An uptick in COVID-19 cases in Danbury has prompted the school system to re-evaluate decisions made regarding this upcoming Fall semester. Today, The Danbury Public Schools Facebook page let out an announcement. In short, the school year this Fall will be Distance Learning for all students.

As you may have guessed, there are mixed emotions from parents on this subject. Below are only a small portion of the comments being shared on the post.
Thank you for making the hard decisions regarding the health of our children and our community.
While this is very disappointing, thank you for putting our kids’ and your staff’s health and safety first.
Regardless of the numbers the school system, teachers and DPS were not prepared to open.They (DPS, Mayor and others) wanted distance learning from the start and have openly advocated for it. They should have pushed for this from the start rather then waste time on an obsolete plan that was never going to work in the first place. As Parents we now have to design plans for child care, learn how to get introduced to our teacher with zero direction. I understand the decision however this could have been managed better.
Sorry, I can’t do this. My kids will do school, when they go to school.
I would like to know what kind of help will be offer for kids with learning disability. They were left behind when school closed back in March ..
What about the children who rely on school lunches? Will those still be available for pick up at the schools?
I sympathize with everyone affected by this decision and wish all a healthy Fall semester.
