An alleged "drug house" was the scene of four arrests and an assault on a Danbury officer, according to police.

A recent press release from the Danbury Police Department reports that as members of the Patrol Division and Detective Bureau approached what they describe as a known "drug house" on Balmforth Ave. to serve an arrest warrant this past Thursday (September 19) things became a lot more lively than usual.

Police say that when they arrived at the house, one of several occupants, 27-year-old John Fernandez, tried to escape, and when officers attempted to apprehend him, they were allegedly met with a flurry of punches and kicks from the assailant. After what police say was a "lengthy struggle," Fernandez's attack was finally stopped with the use of a tazer, but not before one police investigator had to be taken to Danbury hospital for treatment. Both the member of the DPD and Fernandez have since been released from the hospital.

While all of that chaos was going on, other officers and investigators on the scene say they encountered several individuals allegedly using around a table where drugs and drug paraphernalia were laid out.

As a result, three people in the house were allegedly found to be in possession of illegal drugs. They were arrested and charged accordingly.

John Fernandez was arrested and charged with possession and assault on a police officer. He was held on a $150,000 bond.
