Danbury Police Make Arrest in Sterling Woods Homicide Investigation
Local police have made an arrest in connection with a widely publicized homicide investigation in Danbury.
According to the Danbury Police Department, 33-year-old David Ramos has been taken into custody after police say he has "eluded apprehension" since the killing of Brewster resident Jason James Lowry Hoffman.
Hoffman was killed on Wednesday, September 4, at Sterling Woods, a quiet condominium complex in Danbury set back on Silversmith Dr. on the corner of Nabby Rd. and Palmer Rd., near the Stew Leonard's Section of Federal Rd.
Police say that Ramos was a "friend" of Hoffman's and was a resident of the condo at which the killing took place. Detectives received a warrant for the Danbury man's arrest on Monday (Sept. 9) after a lengthy investigation and a number of interviews allegedly turned up enough evidence to link him to Hoffman's death.
The suspect was reportedly found in a friend's apartment on Scuppo Rd. in Danbury early Wednesday morning (September 11) the same day in which friends and loved ones gathered for Jason Hoffman's burial service at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery in Brewster.
As of this writing, David Ramos has been charged with first degree manslaughter, interfering with the duties of a police officer and various drug-related offenses. He is currently being held at the Danbury Police Department pending arraignment or the posting of a court set $250,000 bond.
Authorities say that not only do they expect Ramos to be hit with additional charges related to Hoffman's death, but state that it is also possible that others will face charges as well.
