According to a press release from City Hall, the food distribution events are a collaborative effort led by the United Way of Western CT, paired with Danbury High SchoolCT Food Bank/Foodshare and Walnut Hill Community Church.

This is a drive-thru system and the event runs from 10 AM to 1 PM at Danbury High School every Saturday in August. You can drive-up for a fresh box of produce without registration and the event is not limited to Danbury residents.

The site will also serve as a mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic thanks to Griffin Health, RVNA, and CHC, Inc.

The Walnut Hill Community Church will provide volunteers, but the event could use more. If you are interested in signing up to help out, click here.

The need for fresh, nutritious food in our area is a bigger problem than you might imagine given the wealth in Danbury and the surrounding communities, but it is real. I know this because each year we host a food drive for a wonderful local organization called the Hillside Food Outreach called Camping for Cans.

No matter how many dollars or food donations we raise each year, their pantries are depleted months later. COVID-19 did not help matters with so many CT residents losing their income. Whether you are able to help or are in need, please don't hesitate to get more information here.

Head to the first Mass Food Distribution event at Danbury High School this Saturday (8/7/21) beginning at 10 am.
