According to a social media post from department spokesperson James Gagliardo via the Danbury Dire Department Facebook account, the crash occured right around 5:30 PM on Saturday (July 11) in the area of 40 Taggan Point Road.

As the emergency personnel arrived on the scene following the report of the crash, they found a "heavily damaged" Subaru Outback station wagon, pictured below, which had driven off the roadway, colliding with a large tree in front of the Taggan Point Road residence.

In the post, Gagliardo said that "Due to the location of the vehicle and the tree, units had to remove the entire roof of the vehicle and then remove the victim across the drivers side of the vehicle."

The passenger who was removed from the Subaru was then transported to Danbury Hospital to be treated with what was described as serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

As of this writing, there have been no updates regarding the current medical condition of the passenger or what may have caused the crash, but an investigation is underway. We'll be sure to keep you updated as more information rolls in.
