The word is out and once again this year, the Puppy Bowl will feature dogs from the Danbury Animal Welfare Society.

The Puppy Bowl has become a Super Bowl Sunday tradition on Animal Planet, but this year it's extra special for these Danbury pups because they will also be featured in the Dog Bowl on the Saturday night before the big game.

The staff at DAWS is pretty excited about this too, here's what they had to say on their Facebook page:

We are SOOO excited to announce that this February we will have some of our very own DAWS pups featured in the Puppy Bowl and Dog Bowl on the hit network, Animal Planet!!!! This is our second year being invited to the Puppy Bowl and our first time at the Dog Bowl!!

The Puppy Bowl first premiered in February 2005 opposite Super Bowl XXIX, and has been an Animal Planet staple since.

Each year in October, puppies from shelters all over the country head to New York City to film the show, which sometimes can take up to three days. Since Puppy Bowl I in 2005, several features have been added through the years including the kitty half time show and the rabbit cheerleaders. They even go as far as naming a Puppy Bowl MVP --  you guessed it -- Most Valuable Puppy.

You can catch Puppy Bowl XVI all day on Super Bowl Sunday, February 2, starting at 3 pm exclusively on Animal Planet.
