Connecticut Ready to Pay $1,000 to People Who Go Back to Work
If you live in the State of Connecticut and are unemployed, Governor Lamont has devised a program to help you out called "Back to Work CT."
Here's how it works. If you've been a long-term unemployed Connecticut resident and you're thinking of going back to work, the State of Connecticut is offering to pay the first 10,000 long-term unemployed workers a $1,000 signing bonus as an incentive to become a member of the workforce once again.
The press release states that to be considered long-term unemployed, you have to of been out of work for 8 to 12 weeks. Currently, there are 65,000 jobs up for grabs in Connecticut.
The Ethan and Lou Show recently interviewed Scott Parente, owner of the popular lakefront restaurant "Down the Hatch," who, for the first time, needed to place a recruiting ad to hire servers. But, unfortunately, he doesn't remember the last time he needed to recruit employees.
Let's crunch the numbers. If you're unemployed, you're most likely receiving state unemployment benefits plus an additional $300 federal unemployment benefit per week. So, depending on the amount of your state unemployment check, does it even make sense to go back to work?
If you are unemployed and pondering, "To work or not to work," think about this. There is the possibility that the weekly $300 federal unemployment benefit may go away at the end of September. Eventually, the state will be asking you to prove you've been looking for work.
To apply for the $1,000 signing bonus, you must have the job secured first and then navigate to portal.ct.gov.com to apply.
