Hunting coyotes in Connecticut is perfectly legal from Jan. 2 through Dec. 30, but not if you're a convicted felon.

According to the Connecticut PostWaterbury police hiked into a section of the Mattatuck State Forest, just north of Waterbury after they received a tip there might be someone hunting illegally. The person was seen entering the woods carrying a firearm and wearing camouflage.

This rifle-carrying, camo-wearing dude must be an idiot. First of all, if you're a convicted felon, the law states you cannot own or carry any kind of firearm. Second, you must have a hunting license. This dufus said he did, but he didn't, so he was lying to the police. Third, you're required to wear a fluorescent orange vest, as required by law.

The Connecticut Post says that Officer Patrick Kiely and his K-9 partner, Baloo, found the car and located the hunter in no time. He was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal small game hunting without wearing fluorescent orange, and hunting without a license. You've got to wonder if he misplaced his brain or maybe he was actually trying to get sent back to the joint. Sometimes it might just be about that three-square-meals thing along with a private room and a boyfriend named, Big Butch.
