Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo Introduces Two Rare (And Adorable) Leopard Cubs

Two rare and captivating leopard cubs are ready to make their debut at the Beardsley Zoo.

The mama leopard, Freya gave birth to three very rare Amur leopard cubs on January 25 but only two survived, according to an article on Fairfield's Hamlet Hub. The male and female, Orion and Kallisto, have been hand-reared by animal care professionals and have been acclimated to zoo life and are ready for their debut.

Amur leopards are originally from the Russian Far East and are known for their beautiful spotted fur which is one of the reasons they are illegally hunted. In 2007 they were placed on the Critically Endangered species list. They're able to run at speeds of up to 37mph and can leap up to 19 feet horizontally and up to 10 feet vertically.  

You can now see these magnificent Amur leopard cubs at Connecticut's Beardsley Zoo. Currently, the cubs can be seen each day from 9:00 to 11:00 am and then again from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
