Not that the cost of living isn't high enough here in Connecticut, but a new study just named the state as the most expensive for yet another thing that is essential to our quality of life. When it comes to energy costs, Connecticut tops the list as the most expensive in the country, according to wallethub.com.

Now, some of this survey was conducted in the summer when air conditioners are running around the clock, but Connecticut residents will be proud to know that the state also leads the nation in the monthly cost of home heating oil at $104 (tied with Maine).

Connecticut's total monthly energy costs came out to be approximately $404 per month, that was even $60 more than this year's runner up, Massachusetts.

Some of the criteria for calculating the results of this survey included average monthly consumption of electricity, natural gas, and home heating oil.
