If you're thinking of planning a Connecticut staycation, you can't go wrong spending a long, lazy weekend in northwestern Connecticut.

New Haven and Bridgeport Land Toward Bottom of Best Staycations List

Wallethub recently released the Best & Worst Cities for Staycations and the news is not suitable for two CT cities. New Haven came in at No. 173, while Bridgeport followed closely at No. 170 out of 182 U.S. cities.

WalletHub analyzed 41 metrics across 182 cities. New Haven scored 32.81, ranking 148th for recreation, 132nd for dining, and 174th for relaxation. Bridgeport scored slightly higher at 33.84, ranking 61st in recreation but low in food and relaxation at 172nd and 163rd, respectively.

Both destinations have rich histories and cultures, but they don't offer residents a great stay-at-home experience. In contrast, Ohio stands out with a top score of 65.24. (Ohio? Are you serious?!!) Cincinnati excels in three areas: enjoyable outdoor spaces, affordable dining options, and many budget-friendly cleaning services that help you relax. Close behind are Orlando (Florida, You Say), Las Vegas, Honolulu, and Chicago—all excellent choices for a successful staycation.

For those craving New England charm, Portland, Maine, leads the way, earning No. 11 overall—well ahead of its Connecticut counterparts, according to ctinsider.com.  It's not exactly a beach house, but it's definitely the spot to beat if you love lobster rolls and lighthouses.

Bottom line? If you’re planning a “stay‑cation” in Connecticut this summer, maybe think twice about New Haven or Bridgeport. They simply don’t deliver in food, fun, or laid‑back luxury. The way to go is to book an Airbnb in beautiful Litchfield County.

After looking into 'WalletHub/Connecticut,' it seems like WalletHub might have a less favorable view of Connecticut. It's a bit disheartening! You might want to take a look for yourself!

Four Businesses in Waterbury That Would Survive The Apocalypse

There are just some businesses too engrained in our neighborhoods that recession, price increases, cordyceps, and even the apocalypse could kill. I spent 50 of my years in Waterbury, and these four places have not changed, nor should they.

CT Named Hot Spot for UFO Sightings, 5 Towns You're Most Likely to See One

According to the NY Post, in honor of National Alien Abduction Daycasino.ca ranked U.S. states by UFO sightings. California led with over 36,000 reports, while Louisiana had the least. With 182,000 sightings nationwide, the odds of an abduction are 1 in 1,833. Connecticut was ranked #11 in the nation which is pretty high. This had me wondering which CT communities get the most sightings? Thanks to Stacker on "the web" I was able to find the Top 5.
