This is just such a wonderful "pay-it-forward" story of compassion.

With the holiday season in full swing, and colder weather inching it's way into New England, I wanted to share this inspiring story of helping others.

This story of goodness comes from a press release issued by the Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection

Connecticut State Troopers recently received a donation of First Responder Winter Bags for the Homeless from the Massachusetts State Police and Bob “The Bike Man” Charland of Springfield, Massachusetts.

When you think about doing good work and paying it forward, Charland's story is one you should read about. It was a featured story in people.com titled "Massachusetts Auto Mechanic Spends His Final Days Repairing Bikes For Kids In Need"

Then he had another idea. One that some homeless people in Connecticut will benefit from. A simple thought and yet a brilliant idea. Charland's First Responder Winter Bags for the Homeless contain foot/hand warmers, hats, gloves, socks, toothbrushes/toothpaste, soap, lotion, baby wipes, meal replacement shakes, food, blankets and some even have feminine hygiene products.

The release from ct.gov/despp says that 80 First Responder Winter Bags for the Homeless were donated to Connecticut State Troopers and will be distributed to troopers at Troops A - Southbury, Troop G - Bridgeport and Troop H - Hartford. The troopers will carry the winter bags in their cruisers and will offer the bags and other social services to those in need that they come in contact with.

May this one man's acts of kindness inspire you for years to come.
